等級	レベル	説明
1	完全修得	母国語話者のレベル  母国語話者と同じくらいどんな状況においても英語を操ることができる。間違うとすれば、母国語話者と同じような間違いをする。
	MASTER	Native Speaker Level  This person can handle English in any situation as well as a native speaker. He or she also makes the same mistakes as a native speaker.
2	進んだ上級	ビジネス完全習得レベル  不慣れな言葉や言いまわしでわずかな問題があるにもかかわらず、どんな状況においてもうまく英語で対処することができる。
	UPPER- ADVANCED	Business Mastery Level  Despite one or two minor problems with unusual words or phrases, this person can handle any type of situation in English well.
3	上級	ビジネス実用レベル  細かなニュアンスを含めて特別な英語でない限りはどんな状況にも対応できる。いつも自然な英語を使えるとは限らないが、即興で埋め合わせができる。
	ADVANCED	Practical Business Level  This person can handle all but very specialized English, including nuances. His/her style is not always completely natural but improvisation will successfully hide any weaknesses.
4	準上級	会話を楽しめるレベル  英語を使うことに抵抗がなく、日常のビジネス英語には問題がないが、ニュアンスや不慣れな英語の様式にはわずかに問題があるかもしれない。
	LOWER- ADVANCED	Conversation Enjoyment Level  This person feels at home speaking English and has no trouble handling everyday Business English. There may, however, be a few problems with nuances or unusual styles of English.
5	進んだ中級	社交レベル  あまり専門的でないことであれば母国語話者と容易に意思疎通ができる。ニュアンスやビジネス英語は難しいと感じる。
	UPPER- INTERMEDIATE	Social Association Level  This person can communicate easily with native speakers on topics that are not too specialized. Has difficulty understanding nuances, and problems handling business English.
6	中級	日常会話レベル  日常の英語はかなり上手にあつかえるが、ビジネス英語においては十分ではない。日常のコミュニケーションにおいてもある程度支障が生じる。
	INTERMEDIATE	Daily Conversation Level  This person can deal with everyday English fairly well but is not competent in business English. Even in everyday conversation, some communication gaps may still occur.
7	準中級	限られた会話のレベル  英語の経験が不足しているものの、話題が単純なものであれば限られたなかでコミュニケーションができる。基本的な文法や語彙力がみについており、それをある程度応用できる。
	LOWER- INTERMEDIATE	Limited Conversation Level  This person lacks experience but can communicate in a limited way if the topic is kept simple. He or she understands basic grammar and vocabulary and can apply them to a certain extent.
8	進んだ初級	基本的なコミュニケーションレベル  基本的なことを学習しており、それをやや応用できる。単純なコミュニケーションは可能だが、日常会話の話題でも問題がある。
	UPPER- ELEMENTARY	Basic Conversation Level  This person has studied the fundamentals and can apply them a little. Simple communication is possible, but even everyday conversation topics present problems.
9	初級	限られた知識のレベル  すべての英語の領域においてまだ不十分であり、さらに基本を学ぶ必要がある。単純な言いまわしはできるが、ブロークン英語としてである。
	ELEMENTARY	Limited Knowledge Level  This person has major gaps in all areas of his/her English and requires further study of the basics. He or she is able to use simple phrases, but only as broken English.
10	準初級	基本的な知識のレベル  すこしの間、文法と語彙の基礎を学んでいるが、繰り返す練習や置き換え練習しかできない。しっかりとした復習が必要である。
	LOWER- ELEMENTARY	Basic Knowledge Level  This person has studied grammar and vocabulary basics for a while, but is unable to manage more than repetition drills and pattern practice. Continuing thorough  review will be required.
11	入門	基礎的学習レベル  英語の言葉をいくつか知ってはいるが話し言葉を理解することも、反応することもできない。単純な、書かれた文章はわずかにわかるかもしれない。
	BASIC	Basic Study Level  This person knows a few words of English but can neither understand nor respond to the spoken language. He or she may have a limited understanding of simple written English.
12	初心者	あたらしく始めるレベル  一度も英語に触れたことがなく、英語を使うというよりは、基本的な言葉を覚えることから始めなければならない。
	BEGINNER	New Language Level  This person has never been exposed to English before and will have to begin with basic word memorization before he or she is able to use any English at all.
